Older Fete’s

We believe we are the oldest continuously run village Fete in Hampshire and possibly in the UK.   Since the Royal Charter in 1241 we know that there were fete’s held in the 1700’s.   We have a report that Barton Stacey held its fete in the 1830’s on the 20th July and we know the modern Fete was running at Church Farm in the 1930’s and 40’s.

In recent times it was held for more than 25 years at Wades House and our last celebration of the medieval history of the Fete was held there 25 yea1991 feters ago.   As you can see the village dressed up in costume then as well and the Andover Advertiser covered our event
For the last few years we have returned to Church farm and we are very grateful to the Talbot family for letting us use their property which also dates back to the medieval period.

Established by Royal Charter in 1241
